Destination DuVall...how we got to where we are: Trip to Seattle, Washington!

We've been blessed with so many wonderful visitors this past year that we didn't realize it's been about nine months since we've been back in the States. It was really an answer to prayer that Mike found a Continuing Education course that gave him enough credits to renew his Washington State dental license (something he needs in order to practice dentistry here in St. Kitts) that did not have classes on Sabbath. What an added bonus it was that it was taking place in Washington State (that's where Mike's family lives)! One of our best friends were attending the conference with us so we got to spend some quality time with them and we were able to visit with our family the following week.

Although our trip started out with multiple delayed flights and an unexpected overnight stay in Miami, it was all worth it to have the chance to spend some quality time with our loved ones. I so wish we had recorded Megumi running to Mike's dad when we finally arrived at Sea Tac airport (after 24 hours of traveling) yelling "Grandpa! Grandpa!" with her arms open wide. It brought tears to our eyes to witness such a sweet moment of reunion.

The two weeks spent in the States was a wonderful little break from our island life and we thoroughly enjoyed our time. It was so nice to wear jeans and jackets for a change and to be "cold" (it was in the 50's-60's). We ate lots and lots of Asian food and fresh berries that we've craved. I shopped at stores I've missed like Target, Trader Joe's and Costco. We savored every moment and every bite (literally!). I'm already drooling a little bit looking back at these pictures. I guess it's a good thing I'm not there right now because being 6 months pregnant, I'm feeling hungry ALL the time. We even got to have a doctor's appointment while we were there and meet our OB/GYN. We love her and we feel so much better after talking to her in person about our unique situation. What a blessing that we were able to do that during our trip.
